Stitches that carry memory
Tatreez is the name we give to Palestinian embroidery. Each region — Bethlehem, Ramallah, Gaza — has its own pattern language. A grandmother can read a dress the way you might read a letter.
Our cushions, bags and prints are stitched by women in three villages in the West Bank. They set their own prices. We move the work, tell the story, and split the rest.
Leila and Maryam
Leila grew up in London with a tatreez dress hanging in her grandmother's wardrobe that she was told never to wear. When she finally inherited it, she could not find anyone in the UK who could repair it. So she went to find them.
Maryam, who runs our Ramallah workshop, has been embroidering since she was nine years old. Together they've trained over forty younger women, paid wholesale rates and on time, every time, for the past four years.
All sales final on embroidered items. Contact us for damaged goods.
